Who is Sabrina Hilaire?

Sabrina Hilaire

Sabrina Hilaire, formerly known as Vocalz is an anointed singer and songwriter who has transitioned from being a gospel performer to a worship leader, ministering the Word of God, set to music.

She has performed at events such as Stockwell Festival and stages like Fairfield Halls and is also a graduate from the Brits School of Performing Arts.

She grew up in south east London; part of a family full of music and performers. Her father is a musician, her mother sings, she has two brothers who are music producers, and a sister who also sings and is a dancer.

Sabrina always sang and wrote songs from a young age as God was preparing her for the calling on her life. As a teenager she studied music and performing arts at the BRIT school in Selhurst Croydon, there she developed her performance, writing and singing skills. Sabrina experienced low self-esteem and depression, but sought comfort through her songs and other things like drugs, alcohol and men. She got married at the age of 21 and soon spiralled into more depression. Within her marriage she experienced multiple miscarriages and physical and emotional abuse which led her to attempt suicide on two occasions.

Sabrina hardly wrote songs or sang during this time as she believed it carried no purpose. In 2004, Sabrina gave her life to Christ, and started attending C.L.M (Christian Lifestyle Ministries), it wasn’t long after, that she received a word from the Lord calling her to the music industry.

Sabrina took that word and ran with it!! She started to write again, joined her church worship team, where God has been training her and preparing her for ministry, and recorded and released her debut EP entitled ‘GODS MUSIC’.

The Lord healed her and blessed her with three children, delivered her from depression and low self-esteem and healed her broken heart! All the time she has been under the anointed leadership of senior Pastor Dr Ionie Shas at C.L.M, God has been confirming his calling over her life and pouring his anointing on her, giving her songs direct from Heaven that will heal and deliver many broken and abused women.

A voice that will minister to the heart.

In January 2016, Sabrina released her first full length album ‘Songs from Heaven’ together with a sold-out album launch in March 2016.

Sabrina said;

“This album contains prophetic songs from Heaven that mirrored experiences in my life and in my Christian journey. My conversation and fellowship with God reminded me that he was real and working in my life. During these moments Jesus Christ showed me His love and I was able to understand my identity in Him through the exchange of these songs”.

Sabrina then went on to receive a Praisetek Gospel award in 2016 and sang at the 2nd Annual Premier Gospel Awards in 2017.

Sabrina also uses her gift to teach singing and performance skills to youth as well as directing Virgo Fidelis Senior Girls School choir.

Just two weeks ago, Sabrina announced the second single release from her album.

This song, ‘Lord Have Mercy’, delves into the hidden thoughts and convictions that people may face during their lives.

Another self-produced and thought-provoking track which merges Neo-Soul and Hip Hop together to deliver a transparent conversation between creation and the Creator.

In the song, Sabrina’s soulful voice carries the listeners through the conversation while discovering that God’s mercy and grace is available to all, when true repentance takes place!

Previous to this, Sabrina released the first of three singles, ‘Above Water’. This song gives an idea as to what the album has in store for us;

“..unfiltered lyricism and thought-provoking truths about her personal journey and others”.

The self-produced track brings the best of Sabrina Hilaire’s artistry to date, with a gritty urban feel, merging well together with her captivating soulful voice.

‘Above water’ describes how someone can be constantly battling with temptations, whilst honestly trying to maintain a “righteous lifestyle”. In the song Sabrina acknowledges her struggles whilst staying true to herself and trying to keep her head above water.

Directed by Silva Visuals the video captures a matured and expressive side to Sabrina Hilaire that will inspire and encourage people going through the same journey.

The 3rd single ‘Narrow Road’ featuring Feed’Em will follow in March 2018.
