John 14:15 (NIV)
“If you love me, keep my commands.”
Jesus tells us that the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your soul and all of your mind – How often we claim to do this, yet fail to understand what that love should look like?
Jesus said “If you love me, keep my commands.”
In this day and age, we as humans, do not like the word ‘obey’, we feel it is an unacheivable goal to be fully obedient to the word of God. We can read the scriptures and so easily feel intimidated because what we read is opposite to our true nature, our sinful nature.
Jesus would not set us unrealistic expectations, He tells us in Matthew 19:26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” So all we have to do is yield ourselves to His Spirit and out of love for Him, ask the Holy Spirit to help us walk in the obedience that Christ requires.
When you open up the scriptures and read the things it says, how difficult do you find it, to live by them?
The encouragement today is, that God wants you to live in such a way, that all of His blessings will be yours. He doesn’t expect you to do this on your own, He is there to help you walk in holiness.
“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.”
