“and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 10:22

It isn’t usually the teachers that get expelled from school is it?

Well in this case things are very different!

27 year-old maths teacher and Evangelical Church Pastor Joshua Sutcliffe, has faced a disciplinary hearing after “accidentally” referring to a pupil by the wrong gender.

Above: Joshua Sutcliffe on itv discussing why he faces a disciplinary for misgendering one of his pupils.

Whilst teaching, Joshua referred to a female to male, transgender pupil as a girl when addressing the pupil who was working in a group of girls and then quickly apologised after being corrected by the pupil.

Sutcliffe, now left without a job and potentially no longer having a career in teaching, has decided to take action against the school. He is suing them for “Religious Discrimination”, claiming he has been victimised for his belief system.

Joshua has admitted that his Christian beliefs have meant he actively chooses not to refer to the student by pronouns, such as ‘he’ or ‘him’.

BUT..

We question what does his faith have to do with simple human error?

They’ll always pin it on Christianity.

This matter has been covered massively over the last few months, many Christian organisations have watched this disagreement evolve with dismay – Yet we think this whole situation is nothing but propaganda.

Joshua Sutcliffe, mislabelling a Transgender pupil has absolutely nothing to do with him being a Christian!

We, as Christians have to come to terms with facing prosecution for our beliefs. We must remain strong in our understanding, and wise in our approach. The world is moving further and further away from Christian principles, and acceptance is becoming normality.

‘You must conform in the modern world or you will be cast out’.

So let’s approach the Joshua Sutcliffe issue in a different way and see if it has as much clout?

“British Maths Teacher makes a mistake whilst teaching his class!”

Yeah we didn’t think so either!

God Bless you Joshua Sutcliffe!

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Jesus Christ.”

– Philippians 4:7
